JULY 2: Since Monsoom has continued fury with incessant rain, flash floods and landslides, at least 51 people have died and 22 others are missing in Himachal Pradesh as per the latest official data.
The State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), under aegis of Government of Himachal Pradesh, released damage assessment report covering period of June 20 to July 1 and the report reveals significant damage 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh.
The SEOC report said, “At least 51 deaths have been reported as of now owing to inclement weather. Besides, 22 persons have been missing with Mandi district reporting the highest deaths i.e. 10 and all 34 missing persons”
The report further laid emphasis on the fact that 103 people have been injured in monsoon-related incidents.
It is learnt that damage to public infrastructure is amounting to Rs 283.39 Crore. The worst-hit sectors are – Public Works Department (PWD), Jal Shakti Vibhag (JSV) and power sector.
Himachal Pradesh Government are at forefront to mitigate the losses and is operating a 24×7 control room at SEOC.
Besides, Public Helpline 1070 has been issued at times of emergencies.
