“New Era in Connectivity: Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Train Launches Saturday”

In a major boost to Jammu and Kashmir’s rail connectivity, the much-anticipated Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express is set to begin operations from Saturday, June 8. This semi-high-speed train will mark a significant milestone in the region’s transportation infrastructure by drastically reducing travel time between the popular pilgrimage town of Katra and the capital city Srinagar.

Designed with state-of-the-art facilities and enhanced passenger comfort, the Vande Bharat Express will cover the Katra–Srinagar stretch in just over 3 hours, providing a swift, smooth, and scenic journey through the picturesque valleys of Jammu and Kashmir. The train will stop at key stations including Banihal, Qazigund, and Anantnag, offering greater accessibility to local commuters and tourists alike.

Railway officials have confirmed that the train is equipped with modern safety features, onboard infotainment, bio-vacuum toilets, and comfortable seating arrangements. The new service is also expected to boost religious tourism, particularly for Vaishno Devi pilgrims, and promote economic activity in the region.

This development is being hailed as a step forward in integrating Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country through reliable, fast, and world-class transportation. The inaugural run is expected to witness participation from senior railway officials and political leaders, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi likely to flag off the service virtually.

With this launch, Jammu and Kashmir joins the growing list of states connected by India’s pride — the Vande Bharat Express — further reinforcing the government’s commitment to developing world-class infrastructure in the Union Territory.
