BJP national general secretary and party in-charge for Jammu & Kashmir, Tarun Chugh, on Monday sharply criticized National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah for remarks undermining Operation Sindoor and the contribution of security forces involved in counter-terrorism efforts.
Responding to Abdullah’s claim that the operation “did not achieve anything,” Chugh expressed that it was “shameful” for the NC leader and his family to disrespect the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces. He stated that security forces had successfully destroyed multiple terrorist training centers in Pakistan following the tragic killing of 26 civilians by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in Pahalgam.
Chugh emphasized the ongoing nature of Operation Sindoor and labeled the recent blast at the Nowgam Police Station as a “reminder” of the bravery displayed by security forces in their fight against Pakistan-backed terrorism.
He alleged that the Abdullahs, Muftis, and the Gandhi family “habitually play into the hands of Pakistan and the ISI,” despite their prominent political positions in India. Chugh found it “shocking” for Abdullah to cast doubt on security forces at a moment when the J&K Police and intelligence agencies had uncovered one of the “biggest terror conspiracies” in recent times.
Questioning Abdullah’s intentions, Chugh asked if he was attempting to sympathize with individuals responsible for stockpiling 2,900 kilograms of explosives intended to kill thousands of innocent civilians.
He expressed that this foiled terror plot was “colossal in scale” and would have caused devastating consequences had the JK Police and other agencies not intercepted it.
Chugh noted that nine revenue and police personnel from the J&K Police lost their lives during the Nowgam Police Station explosion while managing the discovered explosives. He characterized this tragedy as “heartbreaking for the entire nation.”
The BJP leader accused Abdullah of neglecting the martyrs’ sacrifice and instead “using such moments to echo the language of Pakistan.”
Highlighting national security, Chugh stated that rather than appreciating the bravery that had saved countless lives, Abdullah chose to resonate with the sentiments of the Pakistani Army and ISI. This behavior, according to him, exposed the so-called ‘Gupkar Gang’ and raised questions on whether the Congress and Rahul Gandhi supported such positions while promoting their “Mohabbat Ki Dukaan” political agenda.
