On the birth anniversary of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, revered as Sher-e-Duggar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) paid rich tributes across Jammu and Kashmir, celebrating his contributions and vision.
This year’s tributes saw a significant gathering in Srinagar, led by BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh. He, along with senior party leaders, garlanded Dogra’s portrait at the party office.
Among distinguished attendees were Sat Sharma, Ashok Koul, Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, and Anwar Khan, who honored the leader with floral tributes while highlighting his dedication to national unity.
During the ceremony, Tarun Chugh hailed Pandit Dogra as “an institution of national integration and selfless service.” He remarked, “His unwavering struggle for ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan’ became the moral compass for the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and continues to inspire the BJP today.”
Chugh emphasized that the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A by the Narendra Modi Government represents the fulfillment of Pt. Dogra’s lifelong dream, dubbing it “the ultimate tribute to his steadfast commitment to national unity.”
Sat Sharma described Pt. Dogra as a visionary leader who diligently led the Praja Parishad Movement, advocating for Jammu and Kashmir’s complete integration with India. He asserted, “Pandit Ji’s long-cherished dream has been realized under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.”
Ashok Koul reflected upon Pt. Dogra’s moral integrity, recounting how he led the “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” movement with determination. This decisive push led to the abolition of the separate post of Prime Minister in Jammu and Kashmir, solidifying national unity.
Meanwhile, in Jammu, BJP leaders, including MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, along with J&K BJP General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Baldev Singh Billawaria, performed a Hawan and offered floral tributes at famed Dogra Chowk.
Jugal Kishore Sharma referred to Pt. Dogra as “a towering statesman and patriot”, underscoring his pivotal role in leading the historic Praja Parishad Movement aimed at the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir with India.
Sanjita Dogra called upon party workers to embody Pandit Ji’s spirit of selflessness, while Baldev Singh Billawaria highlighted that Dogra’s ideology laid the foundation for Jammu and Kashmir’s unification with the Indian Union.
The tributes across Jammu and Kashmir demonstrate the BJP’s ongoing commitment to respecting and honoring the legacy of leaders like Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, as they strive for national unity and integration.
