West Bengal’s chief minister-elect Suvendu Adhikari proclaimed the dawn of a new era for the state as he swore in as the chief minister on Saturday. This marks the beginning of a ‘double-engine’ administration under the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, promising development and progress in the state.
Adhikari shared his enthusiasm ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival in Kolkata for the historic oath-taking ceremony at Brigade Parade Ground. He took to social media platform X, expressing his excitement about welcoming the Prime Minister and affirming that this occasion embodies the fulfilment of the “dreams of our founding fathers”.
In his message, Adhikari stated, “A historic dawn for West Bengal indeed. It is a moment of profound pride and jubilation to welcome visionary Leader PM Narendra Modi Ji to the City of Joy. Today, as we witness the swearing-in ceremony of the first-ever BJP government in West Bengal since Independence, we fulfil the dreams of our founding fathers.”
The oath-taking ceremony, which marks a pivotal transition in West Bengal’s political landscape, has gathered significant attention. This event is seen as a culmination of years of campaigning by the BJP, aiming to transform the state into a venue for development and opportunities.
Adhikari emphasized that this administration would prioritize programs focused on economic development, employment, and social welfare. He highlighted that under the BJP government, the state would experience an era marked by “peace and prosperity.” The chief minister-elect reassured citizens of initiatives to promote infrastructure development and better governance.
Political analysts view this transition as a monumental shift in West Bengal, a state that has long been governed by other political parties. The BJP’s foothold in the region reflects changing sentiments among the electorate, particularly regarding economic issues.
Former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party, the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), conceded to the BJP’s newfound dominance, urging their supporters to accept the people’s verdict. The BJP’s campaign focused primarily on economic challenges, law and order issues, and promises of efficient governance.
The BJP’s success in West Bengal is seen as critical not only for the state but also for the party’s vision on a national level. The party aims to showcase West Bengal as a model for development, partnering with the central government to leverage the state’s assets and capabilities.
As Kolkata prepares for the festive atmosphere surrounding the swearing-in ceremony, local citizens and party supporters anticipate significant changes. Many express hope for a government that can deliver on its promises.
The ceremonial event will witness various dignitaries and political figures, marking a significant day in West Bengal’s political history. The trending narrative emphasizes unity, progress, and collaboration between the central and state governments.
