Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, inaugurated a state-of-the-art multipurpose indoor sports hall in Khour on Monday, marking a pivotal move towards enhancing sports infrastructure in the border regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharma emphasized the government’s dedication to providing modern and inclusive sports facilities, specifically targeting rural and border areas. He stated that this initiative aims to foster a vibrant sports culture, instilling discipline and promoting a healthy lifestyle among local youth.
“Quality sports infrastructure at the grassroots level plays a crucial role in identifying, nurturing, and grooming sporting talent,” he declared. “Our aim is to ensure that no talented youth is deprived of opportunities due to lack of facilities.”
The newly inaugurated indoor hall stands out with its multifunctional design, accommodating various sports disciplines alongside offering a comprehensive training environment for aspiring athletes. Facilities include three badminton courts, six table tennis courts, a volleyball court, two judo courts, and two wrestling and kabaddi courts.
During the inauguration, Sharma took the opportunity to engage with local youth and sportspersons, encouraging them to make full use of the advanced facility. He reassured attendees about the government’s commitment to further developing sports infrastructure, focusing on youth engagement and talent promotion across Jammu and Kashmir.
The launch of this indoor sports hall is poised to significantly boost sporting activities in Khour, providing young athletes with access to world-class facilities close to their residences.
