Tejashwi Yadav Detained in Patna During NEET Protest March

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was detained in Patna on Wednesday while leading a protest march against recent police actions during the NEET exam protests in Bihar. The detention occurred near the Income Tax office as Yadav advocated for students’ rights and protested against systemic failures.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K Sharma, Yadav was taken away in a police vehicle as tensions flared during the protest. RJD leaders and supporters rallied earlier in the day from JP Golambar towards Lok Bhavan, demanding justice for students impacted by the NEET paper leak controversy.

During the confrontation, police employed water cannons against the protesters, who attempted to breach barricades along the march route. Yadav criticized the government, stating, “The government is pushing the future of students into darkness. Exam papers are getting leaked frequently.” His words echoed the frustrations of many students facing uncertainty over their educational futures.

The protests stemmed from a series of grievances related to NEET examinations in the region, including allegations of repeated leaks and insufficient governmental oversight. The circumstances surrounding the protests drew significant public interest and media coverage.

Yadav’s comments highlighted a larger narrative concerning the younger generation’s struggles, emphasizing, “It is important to understand the emotions of Gen Z. The government used AK-47 rifles against the protesting students in Bihar, and pellet guns and nail-embedded batons against them in Delhi, just because they demanded an honest and transparent examination system.”

As the situation unfolded, many onlookers expressed solidarity with Yadav and the protesting students, reflecting a growing unrest among youth regarding their education. The RJD has positioned itself as a key players in advocating for student rights amidst these challenges.

This incident has reignited discussions on policing methods and governmental accountability in educational sectors, raising questions about the treatment of peaceful protests by law enforcement. The RJD promises to continue its efforts to bring these issues to the forefront, ensuring that the voices of young students are heard.
