The Delhi Police arrested two wanted criminals linked to foreign-based gangsters following an encounter in the Kapashera area on Friday. The accused, identified as Akash Rajput and Mahipal, are residents of Rajasthan and have significant criminal records.
Rajput has been under police radar, wanted in multiple extortion and kidnapping cases throughout Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. Authorities had put a ₹20,000 bounty on him following his involvement in various high-profile crimes.
Officials disclosed that Rajput emerged as a key figure in the July 2022 firing incident outside a hospital in Assandh, Karnal, orchestrated under the direction of renowned gangster Daler Kotia. Additionally, he is a prime suspect in a July 2025 kidnapping case in Gujarat, where an exorbitant ₹100 crore ransom was demanded by gangster Kirit Singh Jhala.
Adding to the complexity of this crime network, police mentioned that Jhala recently allied with notorious gangsters Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virender Charan. Mahipal, previously arrested in connection with the Karnal firing, had also reengaged with this criminal infrastructure after securing bail.
The recent operation marks a significant step for the Delhi Police in their ongoing fight against organized crime. During the encounter, Rajput sustained a bullet injury to his lower body. Authorities rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment while continuing to investigate the extent of his crimes.
This operation underscores the risks law enforcement faces as they combat the rise of organized crime linked to foreign syndicates. The police department emphasized their commitment to dismantling these criminal networks that perpetuate violence and chaos in society.
In the larger context of combating organized crime, officials encourage the public to report any suspicious activities. The police aim to ensure safer neighborhoods by dismantling such networks and bringing criminals to justice.
