On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the ‘Make in India’ initiative, launched a decade ago, for its pivotal role in enhancing the Indian economy. With this program, India moves steadily towards self-reliance and encourages indigenous production.
In a series of posts on X, PM Modi expressed his delight, stating, “11 Years Of Make In India has contributed to furthering economic strength and laying the foundation for Aatmanirbharta.” He highlighted how the initiative has spurred innovation and job creation across diverse sectors.
The Prime Minister reflected on the vision behind ‘Make in India’, launched on this day in 2014, which aimed to accelerate India’s growth and harness the country’s entrepreneurial spirit. He affirmed, “Make in India has given an impetus to India’s entrepreneurs, thus creating a global impact.”
As the initiative marks its 11th anniversary, PM Modi urged stakeholders to boost indigenous production, reinforcing the government’s commitment to standing by them. He advocated for India to adopt a more ‘Swadeshi’ approach as it charts its future course.
During the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show-2025, PM Modi emphasized the government’s intent to streamline business processes. He noted, “We want everything from chip to ship to be manufactured in India.” With this vision, he announced the removal of over 40,000 regulatory compliances and decriminalization of more than a thousand laws to facilitate a conducive business environment.
As ‘Make in India’ reaches this significant milestone, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal underscored the initiative’s influence on indigenous defence production. He remarked, “The world is a witness to India’s defence manufacturing strength today!” Further, he attributed these accomplishments to PM Modi’s visionary leadership.
On the same day, India achieved a remarkable feat in defence technology by successfully launching the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile from a rail-based mobile launcher. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised all involved agencies for their successful efforts, situating the launch as a testament to the capabilities fostered under ‘Make in India’.
Overall, PM Modi’s assertions about ‘Make in India’ resonate deeply amid India’s push for self-sufficiency and economic growth, reaffirming the programme’s crucial role in the nation’s development strategy.
