A senior officer from the Border Security Force (BSF) revealed on Saturday that terrorists are poised at launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) to infiltrate into the Kashmir Valley. Inspector General (IG) Ashok Yadav assured that security forces are highly alert and ready to counter any imminent threats.
Yadav, addressing reporters, highlighted the seasonal trend of increased infiltration attempts, particularly before the onset of winter. He stated, “There are always attempts to infiltrate before snowfall. There are still about two months, and chances of infiltration are there till November because they know they will have lesser chances for the next six months.” This makes the current period critical for security operations.
The IG noted the presence of terrorists on the launch pads, particularly in the Bandipora and Kupwara sectors. “They are waiting for an opportunity to infiltrate, but the security is very tight,” Yadav confirmed. He explained that terrorists often exploit inclement weather conditions to make their moves, which adds to the complexities of border security.
“We are prepared and alert for any eventuality,” Yadav emphasized, underscoring the importance of timely intelligence and proactive strategies.
Yadav, in his briefing, also praised the collaboration between the Army and the BSF, stating that they are effectively dominating the LoC with advanced surveillance technology. He remarked, “Along with the Army, we are dominating the LC very well. The security forces foiled two infiltration attempts so far this year.” This reflects the successful measures taken to enhance security in the region.
The increase in vigilance comes as winter approaches, a time when infiltration efforts historically rise. Security personnel leverage high-tech surveillance equipment and tactical methodologies to prevent breaches, ensuring that border security remains robust.
