Three New Common Service Centres Open in Keran Border Villages

The District Administration of Kupwara has established three new Common Service Centres (CSCs) to improve last-mile service delivery in the remote areas of Block Keran. This significant initiative aims to offer residents access to various government services, digital platforms, and welfare programmes right at their doorstep.

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara virtually inaugurated the three CSCs and interacted with Village Level Entrepreneurs to understand community needs better. These centres operate in Gram Panchayats Mundiyan-A, Mundiyan, and Pathroo, significantly enhancing the local accessibility of vital services. Residents can now engage with government schemes and programs without enduring long travel times.

The establishment of these CSCs followed a thorough ground-level assessment by a dedicated team that identified existing service gaps in the region. With the support of CSC e-Governance Services India Limited, this initiative aims to empower residents of border villages by providing them with essential e-governance services.

These Common Service Centres will serve as crucial access points for a wide range of e-governance services, including vital government and public utility services, social welfare schemes, financial inclusion services, health care, and agricultural assistance. In addition, they will offer multiple business-to-consumer (B2C) services, contributing to bridging the digital literacy gap in these remote locations.

In line with the ambitious vision for holistic development of border villages, this initiative seeks to eliminate the arduous travel previously required for essential services. By bringing governance closer to these residents, it fosters a sense of inclusion and connectivity previously absent in the region.

Local residents have expressed their appreciation for the District Administration’s efforts to extend digital services to border territories. The administration remains committed to the vision of “Governance at the Doorstep,” emphasizing the need for continuous improvement in service delivery across remote areas of the district.
