Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted long-range patrolling and an anti-terror mock drill on Tuesday in Samba district. These initiatives aimed to assess operational preparedness, enhance security arrangements, and ensure a prompt response to any potential contingencies, an official informed.
The long-range patrols, executed by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, spanned nearly 20 km along the Jammu-Pathankot national highway, from Jatwal to Lala Chak. This strategic move underlines the police’s commitment to maintaining high alertness and readiness.
Following the patrol, the SOG conducted a mock drill at the border police post in Lala Chak to gauge the personnel’s preparedness in responding to a simulated terror attack. This drill involved two actors portraying terrorists as they staged an attack on a predetermined establishment, showcasing a practical scenario for the officers involved.
As per the spokesman, during the exercise, SOG personnel swiftly established a cordon around the simulated threat area and effectively neutralised the mock attackers. This operation tested their response times, tactical coordination, and overall preparedness against potential terrorist activities.
Samba Senior Superintendent of Police Anuj Kumar emphasized the police’s unwavering dedication to maintaining robust security arrangements. He reassured the public of their safety and security, especially with the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, a period of heightened vigilance.
The police continue to innovate and refine their strategies in light of evolving security challenges. By conducting thorough drills and exercises, Jammu and Kashmir Police aim to foster a secure environment for residents and visitors alike.
Such proactive measures not only enhance the police force’s operational capabilities but also instill confidence among the community. With public safety as their top priority, the Jammu and Kashmir Police exemplify their commitment to protect and serve, particularly during significant national events.
