Jammu: On Tuesday, Pradesh Congress General Secretary Satish Sharma met Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary at Kashmir’s Secretariat, presenting a memorandum for urgent public concerns. Chief among these was the demand to grant Sub-District Hospital status to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, located in Gangyal.
Sharma emphasized that the population of Gangyal and its surrounding areas continues to rise, amplifying the need for enhanced healthcare facilities. Rajiv Gandhi Hospital currently serves a significant number of residents dependent on its services. He stated, “Granting Sub-District Hospital status is crucial for expanding specialist services, medical staff, and modern medical resources. This will ensure better healthcare access for our citizens.”
The community often has to rely on distant hospitals for medical emergencies, which can be detrimental to health outcomes. If the hospital receives the Sub-District status, residents in the area could benefit from comprehensive medical services more conveniently.
In addition to healthcare improvements, Sharma raised concerns over the deplorable conditions of local roads. He urged the government to initiate a survey and commence blacktopping of various roads in Gangyal. He noted, “The crumbling road conditions have led to everyday struggles for locals, students, and commuters. It’s imperative that we prioritize road infrastructure to improve safety and convenience.”
Sharma also highlighted the plight caused by the damaged bridge over the canal at Bawaliana, stating that it substantially hinders safe commuting, particularly during rainy seasons. He pushed for its reconstruction without delay, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
Further addressing the need for improved connectivity, Sharma pressed for the construction of a road in Dadap Panchayat, advocating that enhanced connectivity would drive regional development. He asserted, “The lack of proper roads significantly affects the daily lives of Panchayat residents. It is vital for their development and well-being that this issue be resolved immediately.”
In response, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary assured Sharma that he would prioritize these demands. He committed to issuing necessary directives to relevant officials to expedite solutions for the raised issues.
